Pedestrian hit - Chicago police officers examine the scene of an accident that killed a woman April 9 in front of Campion Hall on N. Sheridan Road.

A 21-year-old Oakton Community College student died after being struck by two cars while crossing Sheridan Road in front of Campion Hall on Wednesday. The accident occurred at 8:50 p.m.

A southbound Mercedes struck Miriam Benezra of Skokie, Ill., knocking her into the northbound lane where a Nissan sport utility vehicle hit her.

Ambulances arrived and transported her to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Ill., where she was pronounced dead at 3:54 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Officers from the Chicago Police Department blocked off the area of Sheridan Road between Albion and Arthur avenues, where they redirected traffic from the scene. Several Chicago Transit Authority buses were stopped at the intersection of Arthur Avenue and Sheridan Road, while others were re-routed to Devon Avenue. Train service was not affected.

The drivers of the two cars that hit Benezra stopped at the scene, and both were cited for failing to use due care to a pedestrian in a roadway, according to the CPD.
